Celebrating the life of

John Victor Gilker II

May 30, 2017 - June 04, 2017

John Victor Gilker II

John Victor Gilker II joined the angels in heaven on Sunday, June 4 at 9:34 am.

Our little man entered the world on May 30 at a tiny 1 pound and 3 ounces along with his four surviving siblings at Memorial University Medical Center.

The doctors didn't believe he would make it through the first hour of his life.  He was named in honor of his Great-Uncle John Victor, who was lost at 18 in the Vietnam War, and who was a fighter.  And John Victor fought.

John Victor spent five days with his parents, siblings and extended family we are thankful for every single moment he spent with us.

His last moments were spent filled with love in the arms of his parents.

John Victor is survived by his parents, Andrew and Cassandra Gilker; sisters Eliana Flores and Genevieve; brothers Sebastian, Andrew and Christopher; grandparents Margarita Cruz, Newton Carrasco, Paul and Mary Gilker; and family near and far, all of whom loved this little guy even if they never had the chance to meet him.

John Victor will be cremated and his remains will be kept by his parents so the military family can keep John Victor with them in their future moves.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Memorial University Medical Center, with special appreciation for the dedicated care rendered by the NICU nurses and doctors and staff of Savannah Perinatology Associates.

John Victor Gilker II, your time with us was short, but you will be forever in our hearts.

The family has set up a memorial college fund for John Victor’s siblings.  To donate visit: www.youcaring.com/Gilker

Gilker Family, We are saddened for your loss, know that John Victor is in heaven with our Lord. There is a bible verse that comes to mind "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.?I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.?My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.?When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.?All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.?How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!?How vast is the sum of them!?Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.?When I awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:13-18) We are there for your family and if there is ever a time you need us no matter where you are all you have to do is ask and we'll be there
